RHS Class of ’76 50th Reunion

Memories

Our 50th Class Reunion

Celebrating fifty years is a remarkable milestone that prompts reflection and reconnection. Following the initial “Save The Date” notice sent in November, this message provides details about the upcoming REUNION IN JULY, including the itinerary, RSVP instructions, and personal reflections.

OUR PAST:

Growing up in Ridgway, many of us shared countless experiences—attending the same schools, participating in activities like band, choir, scouts, sports, and social outings at local pizza shops or the YMCA. Our childhood was characterized by simple pleasures, alongside the typical teenage challenges of hormones, peer pressure, first crushes, and awkward moments. In retrospect, we were all just kids navigating life in a small town with limited perspectives. Now, we have the opportunity to reconnect as our true selves, beyond those childhood labels.

Over the years, we watched each other grow from children into young adults, each forging a unique path. Sadly, some have left us too soon. This reunion offers a chance for nostalgia, reflection, and renewal. We recognize that the significance of this milestone varies—while some remain close friends eager to share updates and create new memories, others may feel less connected. The planned activities aim to accommodate these diverse perspectives, emphasizing that participation is voluntary but valued. We also acknowledge that this may be one of the last reunions for many, making it all the more meaningful.

THE PRESENT:

A heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the REUNION COMMITTEE responsible for organizing this event. Their ongoing efforts ensure that classmates can enjoy meaningful gatherings year after year. Diane has also served as President of the Ridgway High School Alumni Association, which is committed to preserving school traditions and fostering alumni engagement. The association’s mission includes supporting RHS through leadership, mentorship, and scholarships, and offers alumni opportunities to connect through organized events. More information about the association can be found at elkers.com.

OUR FUTURE:

CONSIDER GIVING BACK TO THE RIDGWAY COMMUNITY—We encourage all classmates of the RHS Class of ’76—arguably the largest graduating class—in participating in making a combined “RHS Class of 1976” contribution to a local organization(s) such as the Ridgway Fire Department, Public Library, YMCA, or the RHS Alumni organization. Such efforts honor our shared heritage, support the entire community, and help sustain a vibrant alumni network that benefits the entire community.

PLEASE JOIN US—We sincerely hope you will join us in Ridgway to reconnect, reminisce, and forge new memories. This gathering is an opportunity to celebrate our collective history, honor those who have passed, and strengthen the bonds that tie us together. Let’s come together to reflect on our journeys and the community that has shaped us, ensuring that the spirit of our shared past continues to thrive in the future.
