Memories

Here We Are…

Celebrating fifty years is a remarkable milestone that prompts reflection and reconnection. Following the initial “Save The Date” notice sent in November, this message provides the details about the upcoming REUNION IN JULY, including the itinerary, RSVP instructions, and personal reflections.

OUR SHARED PAST:

Growing up in Ridgway, many of us shared countless experiences—attending the same schools, participating in activities like band, choir, scouts, sports, and social outings at local pizza shops or the YMCA. Our childhood was characterized by simple pleasures, alongside the typical teenage challenges of hormones, peer pressure, first crushes, and awkward moments. In retrospect, we were all just kids navigating life in a small town with limited perspectives. Now, we have the opportunity to reconnect as our true selves, beyond those childhood labels.

Over the years, we watched each other grow from children into young adults, each forging a unique path. Sadly, some have left us too soon. This reunion offers a chance for nostalgia, reflection, and renewal. We recognize that the significance of this milestone varies—while some remain close friends eager to share updates and create new memories, others may feel less connected. The planned activities aim to accommodate these diverse perspectives, emphasizing that participation is voluntary but valued. We also acknowledge that this may be one of the last reunions for many, making it all the more meaningful.

THE PRESENT:

A heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the REUNION COMMITTEE responsible for organizing this event. Their ongoing efforts ensure that classmates can enjoy meaningful gatherings year after year. Are you aware of the Ridgway High School Alumni Association? The association’s mission includes supporting RHS through leadership, mentorship, scholarships, and offers alumni opportunities to connect through organized events. More information about the association can be found here at  elkers.com, check it out.

THE FUTURE:

CONSIDER GIVING BACK TO THE RIDGWAY COMMUNITY— Small towns need help and if you haven’t visited recently, Ridgway needs our support. We encourage each of you to participate in making a combined contribution on behalf of our “RHS Class of 1976” to a local organization(s) such as the Fire Department, Public Library, YMCA, and or the alumni organization. This contribution(s) not only honors our shared history and hometown, it demonstrates the circle of good things coming from its’ past.

PLEASE JOIN US—We have heard from quite a few and sincerely hope you will join in to reconnect, reminisce, and forge new memories. This gathering is an opportunity to celebrate our collective history, honor those who have passed, and strengthen the bonds that tie us together. Let’s come together to reflect on our journeys and the community that has shaped us, have some laughs and ensure that the spirit of our shared past continues to thrive in the future. So, it’s really up to you! Come join us!
